Why this web site was created

The content of these web pages was an outgrowth of the activity of Medit-Plants e-mail forum. In response to the interesting and useful information flowing through that community 'conversation', in the late 1990s, many members simultaneously voiced interest in 'catching' this information and presenting it on web pages. As founder of that forum, I was already considering this as a possibility.

In spite of the virtual 'explosion' of information on the web since that time, there are still few places one can go to easily understand issues surrounding gardening in the world's mediterranean climates. These pages are one attempt to remedy that problem.
