A Selection of Wildflowers of Southern Spain
Betty Molesworth Allen

Santana Books, 2000 (reprint) , ISBN-10:8489954127 , 73/4 x 51/4 in / 200 x 130 mm , paperback , 253 pages , includes index

Without a doubt the best reference work on this subject. Southern Spain is host to a very rich variety of wildflowers in widely diverse habitats, from coastal plains to high mountains, some species growing nowhere else. This book describes more than 200 common plants of the region, each illustrated in full colour with simple text for easy identification and enjoyment.
The late distinguished British botanist Betty Molesworth had lived in the Los Barrios area for 30 years. She was trained as a taxonomic botanist and spent many years with her husband in Malaysia as well as travelling extensively throughout the world in search of plants and animals. She received international recognition in her later years for discovering a unique species of fern in the Alcornocales national park. A botanical park in the Avenida José Chamizo de la Rubia had been named in her honour.
